Professional Note-taker
What is a Professional Note-taker?
Femaura has different kinds of note-taking service available. There are two types of note-taking for Deaf people: manual and electronic.
A manual note-taker produces handwritten notes. These can be in a structured format; showing either only the main points, or any other structure, to suit the client.
An electronic note-taker produces typed notes of meetings or lectures, using a laptop computer. The client can sit next to the note taker and watch the transcript on the computer screen. Students can use other Communicator Provider’s, such as BSL Interpreter or Lip-speaker at the same time.
-
Note-takers can be used for any setting, or any meetings.
-
A copy of the transcript is available to a client, on request, after the assignment has taken place.
-
Professional note-takers have their own code of practice and ethics.
-
This is also suitable for people with dyslexia or who have additional needs.
Professional Note-takers will be registered with us and with either the Association of Note-taking Professionals (ANP) and/or the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD)
